Blame it on Shepherdstown…

Well, as infrequently as I post one would wonder if I still existed.  I do, and I shall.  It appears that I have plenty of time, maybe 15-20 years according to my doctor.  When She gave me my last bill of health she was ecstatic and proud of my accomplishments regarding the weight loss, control of my diabetes and high blood pressure.  (Where upon hearing the praise I asked, “Got a cigarette?”) I love the movie “Blame it on Rio” Michael Cain, Demi Moore trudge through a May/September relationship and I have found myself debating some of the same issues. … Continue reading Blame it on Shepherdstown…

(I) am not alone…

then why can’t I get anyone to scratch my back? Found a quote that had me Pondering… (Yes, with a capital “P”) “The world is changed by your example. Not your opinion.” – Paulo Coelho In spite of being by myself at the time, I got the wind knocked out of me when I received a text from a friend who had just completed his EMT Basic training. And he’s excited about the things that lay ahead. Then in my minds eye I saw faces and heard voices of people from my past who have be affected by my words, … Continue reading (I) am not alone…

Please leave things alone, I have a chance…

I’m just going to post this here for the moment. The rants and raves continue and I am so fed up with it. Videos of bible thumping trolls lapping their local Targets and the rhetoric of the narrow focassed elected officials. I decided to go off budget and pick up a “vice” magazine. And upon realizing who it was on the cover, I set back with a knowing grin and chuckled. If only I had been a girl… For those unfamiliar, this is the current (June 2016) cover of a lifestyle/fashion magazine published in England. (GQ but for a younger … Continue reading Please leave things alone, I have a chance…

Smart *#!@ little so-and-so…

A member/client asked me about bike riding for older adults. I answered thinking about someone in their seventies and eighties, since I am in my fifties. I know several cyclists who are 10-15 years my senior. “Oh, no, I was asking for someone my grandmother’s age – she’s 52.” After I resisted the urge to smack the stuffing out of the smarmy little… I proceeded with what I thought was a well thought opinion. Then I researched and came across this article that mirrored my response and suggestions. I’m going to reshare. Link to People for Bikes article: Silver Linings Continue reading Smart *#!@ little so-and-so…

Quotable: II (Essay/S.A. part two)

“How strangely will the Tools of a Tyrant pervert the plain Meaning of Words!”  (Samuel Adams) Gone are the times when our President, who was elected, by a landslide, for a second term is still undermined by a Republican congress and fettered by interpretations of a bastardized constitution.  (yes, I recognize the mis-spelling.  The lower case intentional for this instance.) I fear for my rights to pursuit of happiness because a candidate for president (again, intentional) wants to take my rights away.  A republican appointed supreme court (and again) says that with all the jiggery pokery I am allowed to … Continue reading Quotable: II (Essay/S.A. part two)

Just a little bit…

As life would have it, my confidence has been a real roller-coaster ride this year.  From the ups with the job.  To the downs with the same, and then finally the lack of same. And then what, there was no proper investigation as to why what happened happend, there were no ways or means to follow up.  It was the end. Well, this is me picking up and starting again.  To have discussed my side of the events – there was no departure interview perse the dismissal paperwork was already done, would have meant outing someone who wasn’t ready or … Continue reading Just a little bit…
