Another glimpse around…

This may have slipped past some of you.  One of the creators of Big Bird, no, not Daddy Bird – Kermit Love, passed away this week in Los Angeles from Congestive Heart Failure.  He was 91.

When announcing his passing The [NY] Times remembers Love’s work by mentioning his collaborations with the likes of George Balanchine, Agnes de Mille, Robert Joffrey, Jerome Robbins and Twyla Tharp.  It was none of these that were mentioned in the stories headline.  Not one of those costume creations were remembered.  Yet his work with Jim Henson, the 8-foot-2, yellow-feathered Big Bird that was mentioned in the headline.  It was BB and his 7-foot, woolly mammoth-like friend Mr. Snuffleupagus that brought him global recognition.

Oh to be remembered that way.
